Art for a financial advisor office: one painting in a room with two chairs and a desk

In a small advisor's office, hang one original of about 50 x 70 to 70 x 100 cm on the wall your client looks at, so the painting, not your head, fills the sightline. Choose a calm abstract with no market imagery. The works named here are listed from R$ 2,400.

Which wall: the one the client looks at

Golden Passage, from the Black & Gold series (2025), is built from texture paste pressed into rows of raised, leaf-like forms on a black canvas, with fragments of imitation gold leaf (metallic leaf) among them. It measures 60 x 80 cm, small enough for a 3 x 4 m room and strong enough to hold one wall alone.

In a room with a desk and two chairs, the advisor sees the wall behind the client and the client sees the wall behind the advisor. As a practical reading of the room (not a studied finding), the wall behind your own head is the weaker choice: your face and screen sit in front of it, and on a video call it becomes your background. Two placements work better. One is the side wall in the client's line of sight, where the eye goes when it leaves your face to think. The other is the wall behind the desk, hung high, as in the image above, with the lower edge clear of any head at seated height. The wall behind the client mainly serves you, so leave it plain.

What size fits a 3 x 4 m room

Measure the wall, then the furniture beneath it, and leave clear wall on each side. For a small office the works below cover the useful range: Echo of Silence (sculpted texture on canvas, 2025, 50 x 70 cm), Golden Passage (60 x 80 cm), Origin of Light (60 x 80 cm) and Celestial Drift (acrylic on canvas, 2025, 70 x 100 cm). A painting larger than the width of the desk begins to crowd a small room; one smaller than 50 x 70 cm can read as a photograph frame from the client's chair.

All four hang vertically, so they suit a narrow stretch of wall between a window and a corner, which is where small offices usually have space.

Why to avoid bulls, charts and mountain peaks

This is an observation about the room, not a rule from any regulator: the studio does not cite compliance guidance here, and your firm's own compliance contact is the right place to ask. Market imagery (a bull, a rising line, a summit) is a comment on the business itself, and a client who is worried on a down day may read it as the firm making a statement about markets. A painting with no subject cannot be read that way.

Origin of Light works through gesture: white and scarlet marks rising through deep grey, with small fragments of imitation gold leaf (metallic leaf). It has tension but no figure and no direction that can be taken as a forecast. Echo of Silence is the quieter option: concentric reliefs and organic folds in a single tone, so there is no colour to interpret. Neither is presented as a signal about how anyone invests, and the studio makes no claim about returns.

What a small original costs

Prices are set by the studio in Brazilian reais. Echo of Silence is listed at R$ 2,400, Origin of Light at R$ 3,300, Golden Passage at R$ 3,500 and Celestial Drift at R$ 3,700. In Brazil, payment is by Pix with a 10% discount, or by credit card in up to 10 interest-free instalments, subject to a minimum instalment value, so a lower-priced work divides into fewer instalments; from outside Brazil it is an international bank transfer in USD. Any conversion to another currency is approximate and depends on the day.

Paying from the practice and keeping the papers

If the painting is bought through your practice, the documents matter more than the price. Every acquisition is direct from the artist and includes the original, unique painting; a signed Certificate of Authenticity with the technical record and Archive ID; a fiscal invoice or official receipt; an Artwork Acquisition Agreement covering transfer of ownership, copyright and image use; an artist dossier; care guidance; and professional packaging. How the purchase is booked is a question for your accountant; the studio does not give tax advice.

For whoever is acquiring

Scale. A 60 x 80 cm work suits a wall of roughly 1.2 to 1.5 m between furniture or openings; check it against the desk. Light. Keep it out of direct sun and avoid a lamp aimed straight at the surface, because a textured surface throws shadow in hard light. Distance. If the client sits about two metres away, the composition should carry from the chair, and the surface rewards a closer look when you stand. Documents and shipping. See the list above. Shipping is quoted per destination and paid by the buyer, professional packaging is included and transit insurance is available; see shipping. For the weight and fixing of a specific work, ask the studio before preparing the wall.

From the studio

The studio's view

Alyne Perfeito is a Brazilian visual artist and trained architect, based in Brasília. Reading a small office as an architect does, the question is where the eye lands and for how long. Golden Passage guides it along one diagonal band of raised forms; Origin of Light gives it a burst to rest on; Echo of Silence asks nothing, because its relief is a single tone. All three are unique originals made between 2025 and 2026, with no editions and no reproductions.

Frequently asked

What art should a financial advisor hang in the office?

One original abstract painting without a subject, about 50 x 70 to 70 x 100 cm, in a restrained palette. It should not depict markets, money or a forecast. It should be sized to the wall and furniture, and hung where the client's eye rests during the meeting.

Which wall should the painting go on, facing the client or behind the desk?

As a practical reading of the room, the wall in the client's line of sight is better than the wall directly behind your head, where your face and screen compete with it. If you use the wall behind the desk, hang the painting above head height so it is not cut by your silhouette.

What size fits a small advisor's office?

In a room of about 3 x 4 m, works from 50 x 70 cm to 70 x 100 cm fit, such as Echo of Silence (50 x 70 cm) or Golden Passage (60 x 80 cm). Measure the wall and the furniture below it, and leave clear wall at each side.

Are bull and stock-market prints a bad idea for clients?

They are a risk worth avoiding, as an observation about the room rather than a regulatory rule. Market imagery comments on the firm's own business and can be read as a statement on a day when clients are anxious. An abstract painting with no subject makes no such statement. For compliance questions, ask your firm's compliance contact.

How much does a small original painting cost?

The works named on this page are listed from R$ 2,400 (Echo of Silence, 50 x 70 cm) to R$ 3,700 (Celestial Drift, 70 x 100 cm). Prices are in Brazilian reais; any conversion is approximate. Each work is unique and sold directly by the artist.
