Art for a plastic surgery office: the consultation room, the mirror and the discreet entrance

In a plastic surgery office, hang abstract originals with no human figure: one large work in the waiting area, a smaller, quiet one in the consultation room. This is a practical reading of the room, not a studied finding: the wall should not compete with what the visit is about. The works named here are listed from R$ 2,400.

The entrance and waiting area: one large, quiet wall

Celestial Drift, from the Luminous Rebirth series (2025), is acrylic on canvas, 70 x 100 cm, built from diagonal strokes of blue, ivory and deep indigo with pale yellow openings. Read it as a wall piece for a reception: a single vertical work, no object in it to identify, and a colour field that reads from across the room.

As a practical reading of the space (not a studied finding), the entrance of a surgical practice is where a visitor decides how exposed to feel. A work with a human figure puts a body on the wall before the visitor has said a word about their own, so an abstract painting is the safer choice. Hang it on the wall the seating faces, centred on the sofa or on the furniture below, with its middle near eye level for someone standing, as in the image above.

The consultation room: the mirror, the screen and the wall behind

In a consultation room the main visual objects already have jobs: the examination mirror and, where one is used, a screen on which images are shown. Anything on the wall competes with them. Keep the painting out of the mirror's reflection line and away from the screen's sightline, so the painting competes with neither.

Veil of Light (Luminous Rebirth, 2026) is mixed media on canvas with sculpted texture and acrylic, 70 x 110 cm. A single dark column runs vertically through deep blue with a pale figure of light, and there is a textured ridge at its centre. It is abstract, and its vertical format suits a stretch of wall above a desk, as in the study shown here. This page makes no claim about what any painting does to a patient's state of mind; it describes the wall.

A quieter option for a small or private room

Echo of Silence (Matter & Silence, 2025) is sculpted texture on canvas, 50 x 70 cm, in one tone: concentric reliefs and folded, creased forms with no colour to interpret and no subject. It is the smallest of the three works, so it fits a wall between a window and a cabinet where a larger work would crowd. Its surface casts shadow under raking light, so look at it in the lighting of the actual room before deciding.

What each work costs

Prices are set by the studio in Brazilian reais. Echo of Silence is listed at R$ 2,400, Celestial Drift at R$ 3,700 and Veil of Light at R$ 4,700. Any conversion to another currency is approximate and depends on the day. Each work is unique.

For whoever is acquiring

Scale. Leave clear wall on each side of the painting; a 70 x 100 cm work suits a stretch of roughly 1.4 to 1.8 m. Light. Keep it out of direct sun, and avoid a spotlight aimed straight at a textured surface, because relief throws hard shadow. Distance. The waiting-area works carry from the seats; the textured surfaces reward a closer look. Documents. Every acquisition is direct from the artist and includes the original painting; a signed Certificate of Authenticity with the technical record and Archive ID; a fiscal invoice or official receipt; an Artwork Acquisition Agreement covering transfer of ownership, copyright and image use; an artist dossier; care guidance; and professional packaging. How a purchase through a practice is booked is a question for your accountant. Shipping. Quoted per destination and paid by the buyer, with professional packaging included and transit insurance available; see shipping. For the weight and fixing of a specific work, ask the studio before preparing the wall.

From the studio

The studio's view

Alyne Perfeito is a Brazilian visual artist and trained architect, based in Brasília. Reading a surgical office as an architect would, the question is where the eye is allowed to go. Celestial Drift moves it diagonally across a large blue field; Veil of Light draws it up a single vertical axis; Echo of Silence gives it a relief in one tone. None contains a human figure. All three are unique originals made between 2025 and 2026.

Frequently asked

What art suits a plastic surgery office?

Original abstract paintings with no human figure: a large calm work for the waiting area and a smaller one for the consultation room. The works named here run from 50 x 70 cm to 70 x 110 cm and are listed from R$ 2,400.

Should a cosmetic surgeon avoid figurative art?

As a practical reading of the room, not a rule, a figure on the wall puts a body in front of a patient who has come to talk about their own. Abstract work leaves the body to the consultation. Your own judgement and your professional body's guidance come first.

What goes on the wall in a consultation room?

Something small and quiet that stays out of the examination mirror's reflection and the screen's sightline. A single-tone textured work such as Echo of Silence (50 x 70 cm) suits this. The page makes no claim about the effect of art on patients.

How large should a waiting room painting be?

Large enough to be read from the seats and sized to the furniture below it, leaving clear wall at each side. Celestial Drift (70 x 100 cm) or Veil of Light (70 x 110 cm) suit a stretch of about 1.4 to 1.8 m.

What documents come with the painting?

A signed Certificate of Authenticity with the technical record and Archive ID, a fiscal invoice or receipt, an acquisition agreement covering ownership, copyright and image use, an artist dossier and care guidance. How to book the purchase is a question for your accountant.
