An emerging painter with no exhibition history: what can be checked instead of a CV
With no exhibition history, the work and its records are what can be assessed. That means the surface seen up close, whether decisions repeat across paintings, a record for each work with size, medium, year and ID, and the documents that come with a sale. Alyne Perfeito, a Brazilian painter, has no exhibition or prize record to cite.
With no CV to read, the painting and its record are the evidence
Crossing Currents (Terra & Ether, 2025) is mixed media with acrylic and texture paste on canvas, 80 × 120 cm (31 × 47 in). Deep blue fields cross earthy browns, with flashes of yellow and white, and the marks are gestural. In the surface detail further down, the canvas weave is visible through the blue, a yellow shape sits inside a dark edge with a pale halo, and small yellow flecks are scattered across the field.
A painter who has never exhibited cannot point to a past show. What a gallery, a curator or a buyer can do instead is look at what exists: the paintings, how they are made, and the records kept for each one. The points below are practical observations that can be checked from photographs and documents. They are not a gallery standard, and nothing on this page describes how any particular gallery decides. For the longer test of whether a first group of paintings is a body of work, see how to tell if an emerging painter is building a body of work.

Four things that can be checked without an exhibition record
- Repetition with change. Do the same decisions return in different forms? Crossing Currents works in blue and earth tones. Fire of Devotion (Heart of Chaos, 2026, acrylic on canvas, 100 × 150 cm) is a vertical field of crimson, pink and gold with white streaks. Veil of Light (Luminous Rebirth, 2026, 70 × 110 cm) sets a pale figure against atmospheric blue on a surface of sculpted texture. Palette and method change from one to the next; the question is whether the change looks deliberate.
- The close view. Ask for detail photographs of the places where paint meets canvas. Each work in this catalogue is photographed in detail before it leaves the studio, and the detail below is a photograph of the actual surface, not a rendering.
- A record for each work. The entry should give series, year, medium, dimensions in centimetres and inches, an identifier and a price. Crossing Currents is catalogued as Archive ID AP-TAE-2025-002, mixed media with acrylic and texture paste on canvas, 2025, BRL 4,400.
- Scale in numbers. A photograph with no furniture beside it leaves size open. Dimensions in two units settle it.
How a large work reads on a wall
Amber Strata (Terra & Ether, 2026) is a horizontal work in mixed media with acrylic on canvas, 150 × 100 cm (59 × 39 in). Its catalogue text describes horizontal passages of ochre, bone and oxidised umber, with dark marks settling across the field. In the visualisation below it hangs on a white wall above a long wooden bench, between an armchair and a console, which gives the size against furniture.
Every room image on this site is a digital visualisation, made from the studio's photograph of the painting; none is a photograph of an installation. For a gallery assessing a painter, that is one more reason to ask for the detail photographs and the dimensions rather than judge from a staged room.
What this studio does not have, and what it does
Alyne Perfeito is a Brazilian visual artist and trained architect based in Brasília. Her current body of work, painted between 2025 and 2026, is the studio's first documented one and is organised in six concurrent series. There is no exhibition, prize, gallery representation, institutional collection or published criticism on record, and this page does not suggest otherwise.
What exists is documentary. Every painting is unique, signed, catalogued under an Archive ID and photographed in detail before it leaves the studio. That is a smaller claim than an exhibition history, and it can be checked against the works. The artist's profile is on Alyne Perfeito, Brazilian female abstract artist. For exhibition proposals, high-resolution images and the technical record of any work are sent on request (for galleries and curators).
For those acquiring: scale, light, documents and shipping
Scale. Crossing Currents is a vertical format of 80 × 120 cm (31 × 47 in). In the visualisation at the top it hangs on a white wall above a bench; Amber Strata is 150 × 100 cm and horizontal. Ask the studio for the dimensions of any work in the unit you plan with.
Light. Surface and texture are best judged from detail photographs. For buyers outside Brasília, additional detail photographs and video of a specific work are available on request over WhatsApp. Weight and fixing details for the works are not published; ask the studio for the information on the work you are considering.
Documents. Every acquisition is direct from the artist and includes the original, unique painting; a signed Certificate of Authenticity carrying the technical record and the internal Archive ID; a fiscal invoice or official receipt; an Artwork Acquisition Agreement covering transfer of ownership, copyright and image use; an artist dossier; conservation and care guidance; and professional packaging. The certificate carries a QR code to the work's official page. The list is on the acquisition page.
Shipping and payment. The studio ships within Brazil and internationally. Freight is quoted per destination and paid by the buyer, as are any import duties or taxes in the destination country; professional packaging is included and transit insurance is available. International shipping is quoted on request (shipping). International buyers can settle in USD, and the studio replies to international inquiries within 48 hours.
From the studio
From the studio: reading a first body of work
Crossing Currents belongs to Terra & Ether, and its catalogue text speaks of land, water and sky seeming to shift at once. Alyne Perfeito trained as an architect, and the series she paints at large scale, 80 × 120 cm here and 150 × 100 cm for Amber Strata, are built in layers of texture, pigment and acrylic that read differently from a few metres and from a hand's width.
The studio's claim is the record, not a history: each painting unique, signed, catalogued and photographed in detail. Anyone assessing the work can set that record against the surface.
Frequently asked
Can a gallery take on an artist who has never exhibited?
Nothing published on this site states what any gallery requires, so this page cannot answer for galleries. What can be said is what an artist in this position can put on the table: paintings that can be seen up close, a catalogue record for each work, and documents for a sale. Alyne Perfeito's first documented body of work, 2025 to 2026, has no exhibition, prize or representation on record.
What replaces an exhibition CV when assessing a first body of work?
Evidence that can be checked directly: decisions that repeat, with deliberate change, across several paintings; the surface in detail photographs; a record for each work giving series, year, medium, dimensions and an identifier; and the documents that accompany a sale. These are practical checks, not a standard published by any gallery, and they replace a CV only in the sense that they can be verified.
How many works make a coherent first body of work?
No source consulted for this page sets a number, so none is given. The test is whether decisions repeat and change deliberately across paintings. This studio's first documented body of work, painted between 2025 and 2026, is organised in six concurrent series, with materials and scale changing from series to series; our guide to telling whether an emerging painter is building a body of work develops the test.
What documentation should an emerging studio already have?
At minimum, a record for each work and detail photographs. At Perfeito Studio every acquisition includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity with the technical record and Archive ID, a fiscal invoice or official receipt, an Artwork Acquisition Agreement, an artist dossier, conservation guidance and professional packaging. The certificate carries a QR code to the work's official page, so provenance can be verified at any time.
Is buying from an artist without a gallery riskier?
This page does not rank the risk. What a buyer can compare is what comes with the work: the record, the detail photographs, the certificate, the invoice and the acquisition agreement, all issued by the artist directly. Our page on the real risk of buying work by an emerging artist sets out the question in general terms, and a buyer can ask the studio for any of these documents before deciding.
