Curatorial
Texto curatorial
Moss Herbarium gathers leaves in layers — sage, moss, silver-grey, with a single passage of red veins near the right edge. The imprints overlap and partly dissolve into one another, so the canvas reads less as a collection of leaves than as the floor of a forest seen from above.
Alyne Perfeito works the surface in successive pressings and fine mists of colour. Where a leaf was lifted, its silhouette stays behind in pale reserve; where it was pressed, every vein remains legible. Close up, the drawing of each leaf is exact; at a distance, it becomes texture.
It is the greener, cooler companion to Autumn Herbarium, painted at the same size. Hung alone, it brings a quiet botanical presence to a room; hung as a pair, the two works read as two seasons of the same ground.
