Terra & Ether: Alyne Perfeito's series of mineral strata, earth tones and metallic seams
Terra & Ether is a series by Alyne Perfeito, a Brazilian visual artist and trained architect based in Brasília. Painted in 2025 and 2026 on canvas in acrylic and mixed media, it reads as mineral strata, earth tones and seams of metallic leaf. Every work is unique, and its size, technique and Archive ID are listed below.
What Terra & Ether is
The series is built the way a section through ground is built: pigment laid, scraped back and laid again until the surface reports wear rather than gesture. The studio's own text for Patina Field (100 x 100 cm, acrylic on canvas, 2026) describes exactly that sequence, and the text for Quartz Seam (98 x 152 cm, 2026) describes pigment laid thick enough to carry its own relief, bounded rather than blended, with fields that keep their borders.
The series is part of the studio's first documented body of work, painted between 2025 and 2026 and organised in six concurrent series. The Terra & Ether works are catalogued under Archive IDs beginning AP-TAE, from AP-TAE-2025-001 (Elemental Veins) to AP-TAE-2026-010 (Oxide Horizon). The palette is taken from ground and weathering: the studio's texts speak of ochre, bone and oxidized umber in Amber Strata, slate blue and iron brown in Patina Field, dusty rose in Quartz Seam, and coral over verdigris green in Oxide Horizon.
Alyne Perfeito is an emerging Brazilian visual artist; the studio publishes no exhibition, prize, gallery or collection record for her, and this page does not imply one. What it offers is documentation: each work's medium line, size and Archive ID.

Materials: acrylic, texture paste, metallic fragments and metallic leaf
The medium line in the catalogue is the authority for what each painting is made of. Within the series it varies work by work:
- Acrylic on canvas: Patina Field, Autumn Herbarium, Moss Herbarium and Oxide Horizon.
- Mixed media with acrylic on canvas: Amber Strata and Amethyst Ground.
- Mixed media with acrylic and texture paste on canvas: Crossing Currents.
- Mixed media with acrylic and metallic fragments on canvas: Elemental Veins. The studio's text describes the fragments as silvered and reflecting light; the catalogue does not name the metal.
- Acrylic and imitation gold leaf (metallic leaf) on canvas: Vegetal Dawn.
- Mixed media with acrylic and imitation gold leaf (metallic leaf) on canvas: Quartz Seam.
The gold-coloured material in Vegetal Dawn and Quartz Seam is imitation gold leaf, a metallic leaf, not real gold. The studio seals the metallic leaf with a spray sealant. Where the gold colour appears it works as a record of structure: in Quartz Seam the studio's text reads the seams as the place where matter gave way and was held together again, and in Vegetal Dawn as light becoming structure.

How the series reads on a wall
The curatorial texts give the series a vocabulary of geology and weathering. Amber Strata is read as a cross-section of sediment, with the eye travelling sideways the way it reads a stratum. Patina Field is described as a surface that has kept its own record and as the most restrained work of the series. Elemental Veins sets weight against air and Amethyst Ground sets terracotta against violet; Vegetal Dawn carries the same investigation from mineral stratification to vegetal time.
In a room the works behave according to that vocabulary. The warm, low-contrast fields, such as Amber Strata, suit a wide wall with little around it, as in the opening image. The works with a metallic passage, such as Elemental Veins below, change with the light and the viewing angle, so their position relative to a window or a lamp matters more than for a matte acrylic.
Where a calmer, more tonal wall is wanted, the studio's text places Patina Field in rooms where quiet matters more than colour; where a neutral room needs an anchor, its text places Oxide Horizon against concrete, stone or dark wood.
Quartz Seam and Vegetal Dawn: where the metallic leaf sits
The two works in the series that carry metallic leaf are the clearest case of how the series uses it. In Quartz Seam the studio's text describes thin, deliberate seams of gold light tracing where one mass of colour meets another, over a field of dusty rose with a charcoal ground in one corner. In Vegetal Dawn, fragments of imitation gold leaf sit among greens, malachite and chartreuse and are read as clearings or sun-spots in a canopy.
The detail photograph below shows a seam of metallic leaf at the edge of a scored, thick-pigmented field. It is a photograph of the surface, taken at close range, not a visualisation.
For whoever is acquiring
Scale. Measure the wall and compare it with the listed width and height; cutting a sheet of paper to those dimensions and taping it up is the easiest check. The largest formats in the series are Amber Strata (150 x 100 cm), Quartz Seam (98 x 152 cm) and Elemental Veins (90 x 140 cm); the squares are 100 x 100 cm.
Light. Works with metallic leaf or metallic fragments catch light at irregular intervals; a lamp from the side shows the relief, and a window changes how they read through the day. The studio's guide to lighting a textured painting covers this in more detail.
Documents. Every acquisition is direct from the artist and includes the original painting; a signed Certificate of Authenticity with the full technical record and the Archive ID, carrying a QR code that links to the work's official page; a fiscal invoice or official receipt; an Artwork Acquisition Agreement covering transfer of ownership, copyright and image use; an artist dossier; conservation and care guidance; and professional packaging.
Seeing and shipping. Part of the collection is on view at INTI, in Lago Sul, Brasília, by appointment arranged over WhatsApp; additional detail photographs and video of a specific work are available on request. The studio ships within Brazil and internationally. Freight is quoted per destination and paid by the buyer, as are any import duties or taxes in the destination country; international shipping is quoted on request, and transit insurance is available. From the studio
From the studio: a series read as sections
I trained as an architect, and I read this series the way I read a wall in section: layers, what carries weight, what is left open. In Patina Field I build and then remove, so the surface keeps the record of what was scraped away. In Quartz Seam the leaf marks the border between two masses of colour instead of decorating them. In Vegetal Dawn the same investigation moves from mineral time to vegetal time. The series is the first documented body of work, from 2025 and 2026, and each canvas is a single original.
Frequently asked
What is the Terra & Ether series?
Terra & Ether is a series of paintings by Alyne Perfeito, a Brazilian visual artist and trained architect based in Brasília. Painted in 2025 and 2026 on canvas in acrylic and mixed media, it works with mineral strata, earth tones and metallic seams. Each painting is a unique original, signed, catalogued under an Archive ID beginning AP-TAE and photographed in detail before it leaves the studio.
Which works are in Terra & Ether?
The series includes Elemental Veins, Crossing Currents, Vegetal Dawn, Amber Strata, Amethyst Ground, Patina Field, Quartz Seam, Autumn Herbarium, Moss Herbarium and Oxide Horizon. Their catalogue pages list the medium, dimensions, year, Archive ID and price in Brazilian reais. The first Archive ID is AP-TAE-2025-001 (Elemental Veins) and the latest in this list is AP-TAE-2026-010 (Oxide Horizon).
What materials give the series its mineral surface?
The catalogue lists acrylic on canvas for some works and mixed media with acrylic for others. Crossing Currents adds texture paste, Elemental Veins adds metallic fragments, and Vegetal Dawn and Quartz Seam add imitation gold leaf (metallic leaf). Patina Field is described as built by applying and scraping back pigment until the surface shows wear rather than gesture.
Which Terra & Ether works use metallic leaf?
Quartz Seam and Vegetal Dawn. The catalogue lists imitation gold leaf (metallic leaf) in both, not real gold. The studio seals the metallic leaf with a spray sealant. Elemental Veins uses metallic fragments instead, which the catalogue does not describe as leaf and does not name by metal.
Which formats does the series include?
Verticals, squares and a horizontal format. The range runs from 78 x 100 cm (Autumn Herbarium, Moss Herbarium) through 80 x 120 cm and 90 x 140 cm to 98 x 152 cm (Quartz Seam). Amethyst Ground and Patina Field are 100 x 100 cm, and Amber Strata is horizontal at 150 x 100 cm. Dimensions are width by height.
Can a Terra & Ether painting be shipped abroad?
Yes. The studio ships within Brazil and internationally. Freight is quoted per destination and paid by the buyer, as are any import duties or taxes in the destination country. Professional packaging is included and transit insurance is available. International shipping is quoted on request, so ask the studio about a specific work and destination.
