Large-format abstract paintings for a project: the real formats an architect can specify, vertical, horizontal and square

A large abstract painting is specified by width × height in cm and inches, orientation and whether the size includes a frame. At Perfeito Studio the large originals include 100 × 100 cm squares, 120 × 160 and 120 × 200 cm verticals and the 150 × 100 cm horizontal Amber Strata, each unique and at one fixed size.

What "large format" has to mean in a specification

Genesis of Flame is mixed media on canvas (acrylic, metallic pigment, with high-gloss and matte finishes) and measures 120 × 200 cm (47 × 79 in). It is the kind of work an architect has to carry as a dimension on a drawing before it is an image on a board.

There is no standard threshold for "large-format" in a project. A submittal needs numbers, not adjectives, so give the same three things for any painting: width × height in centimetres and inches, orientation, and whether the figure includes a frame. This studio lists every original as width × height in cm and in, with the orientation stated on the work's page. For the framed Water & Bloom works on paper, the dimensions include the frame. Depth, weight and the fixing system are not published for the works: ask the studio for the information on the specific work rather than assuming it.

A work is also unique, so it exists at one fixed size. The format is chosen from what exists, and the wall is checked against it, not the other way round. For the working size bands, see how large is large abstract art.

The formats, with the data a submittal needs

The table lists large originals by format. Dimensions, series, year, Archive ID and price are taken from each work's own page; prices are in Brazilian reais (BRL) and international buyers can settle in USD, so ask for a quotation rather than converting by hand.

Availability is stated on each work's page and is checked directly with the studio. A table like this is a starting point for a shortlist, not the whole catalogue.

Vertical and horizontal: width sets the wall, height sets the floor-to-ceiling fit

For a vertical work, plan around the width first: it decides how much wall the work claims, and the height then decides how it meets the floor-to-ceiling dimension. Silent Interval (120 × 160 cm, 47.2 × 63 in, AP-MAS-2026-003) and Genesis of Flame (120 × 200 cm) share the same 120 cm width and differ by 40 cm in height. Electric Nocturne (80 × 170 cm, 31.5 × 66.9 in) is a narrow tall format, 80 cm wide, for a slender wall or the space beside an opening.

For a horizontal wall, Amber Strata is 150 × 100 cm (59.1 × 39.4 in), mixed media with acrylic on canvas, in the Terra & Ether series (2026). It suits a wall that reads wide, such as the stretch above a long low piece of furniture. The black-framed look in the visualisation is not part of the technique listed for the canvas works, so confirm what is supplied before drawing a frame into a section.

Genesis of Flame has no fixed top or bottom and can be hung either way up, at the buyer's choice. The 120 × 200 cm envelope is the same either way, so the drawing does not change.

Square formats, and one large work or a pair

Square works keep the same width in elevation whether the wall is narrow or wide, which makes them easy to swap in a plan. At 100 × 100 cm (39.4 × 39.4 in) there are Patina Field (acrylic on canvas, AP-TAE-2026-006), Amethyst Ground, Prism Garden and Violet Tempest. The Water & Bloom works on paper are also square, at 73 × 73 cm (28.7 × 28.7 in) and 45 × 45 cm (17.7 × 17.7 in), framed, with the frame included in the measurement.

As a way of choosing, one large work gives the room a single point of focus and a single fixing to plan; a pair gives a rhythm, but it needs a decision on the gap between the works and on a common centre line. Treat that as a recommendation, not a rule. Two works that look right together on screen are separate originals with separate prices and Archive IDs, so ask the studio whether the two you have in mind are available together. For spacing and scale see pairing two abstract paintings as a diptych.

For those acquiring: scale, light, distance, documents and shipping

Scale against furniture. Take the width of the sofa, bench or console below the work and the free wall width on each side, then compare with the width in the table. Light and distance. Hanging height, lighting angle and conservation guidance are coordinated with the project team by the studio; send a floor plan, reference images and the lighting context and the studio proposes works for the space, with high-resolution previews when reference photography is provided. Look at the wall from the doorway and from the usual seat before deciding.

Documents. Every acquisition is direct from the artist and includes the original painting, a signed Certificate of Authenticity with the full technical record and Archive ID (with a QR code linking to the work's official page), a fiscal invoice or official receipt, an Artwork Acquisition Agreement, an artist dossier, conservation guidance and professional packaging. A per-project dossier for client decks is available, and commercial terms for partners are available upon request.

Shipping and timing. The studio ships within Brazil and internationally, quoted per destination and paid by the buyer, as are any import duties or taxes in the destination country; transit insurance is available. Delivery within Brazil takes up to 15 business days depending on destination, and international shipping is quoted on request. Because the works already exist, there is no production time: the schedule is the decision, the payment and the shipping. International inquiries are answered within 48 hours. For access routes, read whether a large painting fits in the lift, and see shipping for the full terms. Reservation terms are aligned individually with the studio: ask on WhatsApp.

From the studio

From the atelier: a canvas is read in elevation

Alyne Perfeito is a Brazilian visual artist and trained architect, so a canvas is read the way an elevation is read: width first, then how the height meets the wall. The large works in this body of work, painted in 2025 and 2026, are mixed media or acrylic on canvas, built in layers; in Genesis of Flame the acrylic and metallic pigment carry both a high-gloss and a matte finish.

That is also why the studio asks for the wall, the floor plan and the lighting context before proposing a work. A 100 × 100 cm square, a 120 × 160 cm vertical and a 150 × 100 cm horizontal are not interchangeable even when the area is similar, because each one answers a different wall.

Frequently asked

What counts as a large-format painting in a project specification?

There is no standard threshold, so a specification should give measurements rather than a label: width × height in centimetres and inches, the orientation, and whether the size includes a frame. Perfeito Studio lists each original that way on its own page, for example Genesis of Flame at 120 × 200 cm (47 × 79 in) and Silent Interval at 120 × 160 cm (47.2 × 63 in). Depth and weight are not published, so ask the studio for the information on the specific work.

Which large formats are available: vertical, horizontal or square?

All three exist as unique originals. Vertical examples are Genesis of Flame (120 × 200 cm), Silent Interval (120 × 160 cm) and Fire of Devotion (100 × 150 cm). Amber Strata is horizontal at 150 × 100 cm. Amethyst Ground, Prism Garden, Patina Field and Violet Tempest are square at 100 × 100 cm. Each work exists at a single fixed size, and its availability is stated on its own page.

How do I choose between one large work and a pair?

One large work gives a single focal point and one fixing to plan. A pair gives rhythm but requires a decision on the gap between the works and on a shared centre line. That is a recommendation, not a rule. Each work is a separate original with its own price and Archive ID, so ask the studio whether the two works you have in mind are available together.

How does a large canvas get into a building (lifts, stairs, doors)?

Measure the clear door width of the lift, the ceiling clearance at stair turns and the width of the entrance route, then compare them with the width and height of the work in the table. The guide on whether a large painting fits in the lift explains the three measurements to take. Weight is not published, so ask the studio for the information on the work you are considering.

How far ahead should a large painting be reserved for a project?

The works already exist, so there is no production time. The schedule is the decision, the payment and the shipping: delivery within Brazil takes up to 15 business days depending on destination, and international shipping is quoted on request. International inquiries are answered within 48 hours. Reservation terms are aligned individually with the studio, so ask by WhatsApp when the wall will be ready.

What documents come with the work for a project file?

Every acquisition is direct from the artist and includes the original painting, a signed Certificate of Authenticity with the technical record and Archive ID, a fiscal invoice or official receipt, an Artwork Acquisition Agreement, an artist dossier, conservation guidance and professional packaging. The certificate carries a QR code linking to the work's official page. A per-project dossier for client decks is also available through the studio.

Send the plan, the wall and the lighting

Share a floor plan, reference images and the free wall width and height. The studio proposes works that suit the space and can prepare a high-resolution preview when reference photography is provided.
