Does Loro Piana have art in its stores? What the house is documented doing
Not as a standing display. None of the sources reviewed here describes a permanent art collection in Loro Piana boutiques. What is documented are artist installations and collaborations tied to store openings: Marie Watt in New York (2020), Weirdcore in Tokyo (2020) and eL Seed in Dubai (2018), plus a first exhibition in Shanghai in 2025.
What is documented: art around store openings
The pattern that shows up in the sources is the event installation, not the permanent collection. Three examples are documented, each tied to the opening of a store.
- New York, December 2020. When Loro Piana opened its second New York store at 3 Ninth Avenue, a permanent store after a 2019 pop-up, designed by Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen, it showed an installation by the artist Marie Watt, Companion Species: Acknowledgement, Blanket Stories and Generations. FashionNetwork reports that the piece "was commissioned by the Loro Piana team" and was on view until 31 January 2021.
- Tokyo, October 2020. For its first-ever flagship store, in Ginza, the agency Kennedy, which Loro Piana had engaged for a series of artistic collaborations, commissioned the London-based visual artist Weirdcore to make a triptych of experiential installations. The three rooms were wrapped in Loro Piana materials, with a background track by the composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.
- Dubai, November 2018. To mark its entry into the Middle East with a store in The Dubai Mall, Loro Piana announced an immersive installation (the article describes it as an invitation to discover merino wool) in the sky garden of Dubai Opera for 8 to 10 November, inspired by a poem by King Alfonso X, in partnership with the arts organisation Tashkeel and in collaboration with the artist eL Seed, whose work blends Arabic calligraphy with contemporary street art.
In all three the artwork belongs to a moment and a place. None of these sources says the pieces stayed on the walls afterwards, and none describes a permanent collection across the boutiques.
The first exhibition: Shanghai, 2025
The clearest institutional step is an exhibition, not a store programme. Loro Piana held its first-ever exhibition, for the centenary of the house, at the Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai from 22 March to 5 May 2025. It was curated by Judith Clark and combined archival visuals, artworks and garments made for the show. According to The Impression, it was the first time the museum had worked with a luxury house since opening in 2021.
A note on scope: this page covers the commissions and the exhibition above, because those are the facts we could open and read. It is not an inventory of everything the house supports, and it makes no claim about arts activity beyond them. It also makes no claim about an art foundation or a prize, because none of the sources opened here mentions one.
What an event installation teaches about choosing art for a room
A commission made for an opening is typically made with a particular space and date in mind, which is a different act from buying a finished painting, and it is worth knowing which one you are doing. A finished original, such as those on the available works page, is chosen against a wall you already have; a commission is designed with the wall.
For a reader who admires the world of fine fibres, the transferable lesson is about material rather than brand. Surface, tone and restraint carry a room before subject does. That is a design judgement, not a market statistic.
Loro Piana has no relationship with Alyne Perfeito or Perfeito Studio. The house appears here only as a documented example of how a luxury brand uses artists.
Where textile and painting share a language: surface
Fabric and painted relief both live on touch. In the studio's experience, a sculpted surface like this one shows its grooves in angled light, much as a deep knit does, and the eye tends to read that shadow before the colour. The studio's own work in this register is Echo of Silence (Matter & Silence series, 2025), sculpted texture on canvas, 50 x 70 cm, listed at R$ 2,400, built from concentric reliefs and organic folds in a single pale tone. See the work page.
Texture reads best in person and in angled light, which is why a digital visualisation can only suggest it. For more on that, see why a textured painting looks different in person.
Three works for a quiet, tactile interior
Three originals from the studio suit rooms built on calm and material, with data taken from the catalogue.
- Silent Interval (Matter & Silence, 2026): mixed media with acrylic on canvas, 120 x 160 cm, R$ 7,900. A single dark gesture falls through a warm bone-white field, with a block of blue at the lower edge. Work page.
- Echo of Silence (Matter & Silence, 2025): sculpted texture on canvas, 50 x 70 cm, R$ 2,400.
- Patina Field (Terra & Ether, 2026): acrylic on canvas, 100 x 100 cm, R$ 5,200. Slate blue and iron brown panels beside a passage of ochre. Work page.
Prices are in Brazilian real, as set by the studio. Every acquisition is direct from the artist and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
From the studio
From the studio: reading a wall before choosing the painting
I trained as an architect before I became a painter, so I tend to read a room the way a drawing reads: where the light comes from, what the materials already say, and how much silence the wall can take. Silent Interval is composed for interiors that value calm: a large bone-white ground, one dark gesture and a held block of blue. A wall surrounded by wool, wood and stone usually needs one decision rather than many. What I would look at first is not the style of the home, but what touches the wall: the lighting angle, the finish, the nearest textile. The answer tells me whether a smooth gesture or a sculpted relief like Echo of Silence will sit better there.
Frequently asked
Does Loro Piana have art in its stores?
None of the sources reviewed for this page describes a permanent art collection in Loro Piana boutiques. What is documented are installations and collaborations around store openings, in New York and Tokyo in 2020 and in Dubai in 2018, and a first exhibition in Shanghai in 2025. This page does not claim to list everything the house supports.
Which artists has Loro Piana worked with around store openings?
Documented examples: Marie Watt, whose installation was commissioned by the Loro Piana team for the second New York store in December 2020; Weirdcore, commissioned by the agency Kennedy for the Ginza flagship in October 2020; and eL Seed, in collaboration with Loro Piana and Tashkeel for the 2018 Dubai installation.
Did Loro Piana hold an art exhibition?
Yes. Loro Piana held its first-ever exhibition, for the house's centenary, at the Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai from 22 March to 5 May 2025. It was curated by Judith Clark and included archival visuals, artworks and garments made for the show. According to The Impression, it was the museum's first collaboration with a luxury house since 2021.
Is Perfeito Studio connected to Loro Piana?
No. Loro Piana has no relationship with Alyne Perfeito or Perfeito Studio, and nothing on this page implies one. The house is cited only as a documented example of how a luxury brand works with artists. No brand image, logo or store photograph is used.
What kind of abstract painting suits a quiet, tactile interior?
Rooms built on natural fibres, wood and stone tend to suit paintings with a restrained palette and a visible surface: a sculpted relief in a single tone, or a large pale field with one gesture. This is a design judgement, not a rule. Scale should be judged against the actual wall.
Does Perfeito Studio ship internationally?
Yes. The studio ships within Brazil and internationally. Shipping is quoted per destination and paid by the buyer, as are any import duties or taxes in the destination country. Professional packaging is included and transit insurance is available. International delivery is quoted on request.
